And they did so much more.........but i thought this tie in was shocking.
Some may ask why Wuhan Chinese viral research lab? Because Gain of Function viral research was banned in the US. This Fauci and the NSF, and now it turns out USAID also started sending millions of dollars of US tax payer money to the Chinese viral lab where it was still legal. They did this by partnering with a since banned company called ECOHEALTH whose owner Peter Daszak also has sat on committees at the WHO.
When ECOHEALTH and Daszak were banned from all US govt funding in 2021, USAID nonetheless awarded Daszak and ECOHEALTH 4.67 million dollars for work in Africa one week after the NIH made its announcement about the nefarious company.

Upon what legal authority can Musk defund congressional approved funding? Can he shut down NIH?

USAID had a hand in developing the COVID -19 virus and thus the epidemic that shut the world own. (As did Fauci and the NSF).
They did this specifically because the US banned this unwise type of research, so they bypassed the law and went to China.
Then, after the disaster of COVID in 2020 and after the role ECOHEALTH had played in it, they had the unrepentant audacity to award that company more money despite the NIH advising to ban them.
I will let Congress determine if USAID misused funds. That’s how it works.
Republicans have controlled the House for 2+ years.

use each and every year to come up with a new Flu vaccine...so it didn't BAN GOF...nonetheless, as testified to, under oath, the NIH followed the rules set down by Congress and did not fund GOF research in Wuhan, China...it is pure supposition on Baron's part.

Further, many orgs - even USAID may not be completely disbanded - merely paired way down and given new oversight.
