I couldn't agree more. The tax code should be the tax code, not a behavior modification mechanism.

Raise revenue fairly with the tax code. No loopholes for behavior.

Then, if you want to modify the behavior of your citizens, then pass subsidies. Have a debate in Congress about each subsidy. Don't hid bullshit tax breaks for the rich in the millions of pages of the tax code.

...guess he's afraid of competitors getting the same benefits he enjoyed...and got wealthy on.

And just because he played the game he didn't create, doesn't mean he likes the game.

Now you're acknowledging him as a Hypocrite, yet Excusing him at the same time?...How do you

What a "Piece of Work"...Sheesh.

To not take full advantage of the business environment would make him stupid.

Of course you'd prefer a more stupid Elon Musk. If only he was trans too, it would be amazing. But then you wouldn't have Tesla EVs.

It is not hypocritical to state that the code needs to change to remove the advantages.

like Musk can't be trusted...he's patently Dishonest and Self-Serving...the Quintessential Poster Boy for Baron's also Hypocritical Rule "For Thee, Not Me"...i.e. No Subsidies for Thee...but OK for Me...

The bottom line is that he's afraid to COMPETE...and we've seen such behaviors before, as I learned about by studying the Sherman Anti-Trust, and Clayton Acts during my MBA program.

Why you can't get this is astounding.

By your logic, no Congressperson can vote for changing the tax code, or even against insider trading

But, we actually know that if a Democrat were proposing a change to the tax code, or subsidies, or whatever, you would support them even if they had taken advantage of them. You first find out who is the Democrat, then you decide your position regarding that person. Not a cult.

"feasting" on EV subsidies very recently...you have yet to acknowledge Elon's very serious example of Hypocrisy...especially as he has a hand in denying others of subsidies... once you take care of that rather simple task, we can discuss your tangent...Red Herring...or Strawman argument.

Suddenly all you flag waving MAGA fossil fuel supporters love them some Musk and stand behind his takeover of US government.

Strange how the wind of the day has created such a turn around.

They also claim performance achievements based on ideal conditions that are not realistic
(Driving 55 mph which is actually illegal on many highways, worse performance in cold weather, worse performance in rain and snow relative to gasoline powered vehicles).

There sole value until technology improves is to allow liberals to virtue signal.

When they become the better option legitimately, I’m on board with getting one. But Democrats have chosen to try to make gasoline powered cars cost prohibitive to drive the change rather than improvement of the electric car product.

Unless of course it’s a classic or collectible that appreciates in value.

Here’s how I view EVs….

It’s not to virtue signal. That’s a broad sweep by you that is completely untrue. Some may do it, but I drive a Tesla that performs perfectly fine in all weather. Point of order…every car, ice or EV has its performance affected some in adverse weather conditions.

I love the technology. Tesla is in the forefront for a reason. The super charger network is amazing for those that take long trips in their Teslas.

Bottom line, I’m all for drilling and green energy. Why can’t we do both?
