Is the President serious about the “Gold Card?”…

$5 million for citizenship? What a waste of an executive order. Seems the going theme thus far.

Trumpers, what do you think of us voting with N Korea, Iran, and of course Russia on the UN condemnation of Russia’s unprovoked war on the Ukraine?

What a crock of shit we’re being served. I pray for America.

It grants residency, not citizenship.

This isn’t a new idea. It used to be $500k. Inflation, I guess.

Hence, wealthy foreigners will now have head of the line privileges to become a US citizen.

If one has a driver and security team when they shop at Harrods in London, then Uncle Sam invites you to become an American. And you can negotiate the membership fee with President Trump, who of course, is entitled to a commission.

Never mind how you became wealthy. Membership in the club is what it’s all about.

and raised its dollar amount. This was called EB-5, i.e. Employment Based immigration fifth preference. It has been here since I came to U.S., i.e. 1990s. At that time the requirement for EB-5 was $1m with creation of 10 jobs. For certain region like Alaska, it dropped to $500k or something like that. It is investment based immigration. But nobody know why it is categorized into Employment based immigration with fifth preference.

EB-1 is the first preference of employment based immigration. If you're internationally recognized scholar, scientist, pianist like Langlang, or athlete like NBA players, you're in EB-1.
EB-2 and EB-3 are the most common types among employment based immigration. I was in EB-2. Don't know EB-4. Then the last preference is EB-5.

Seems Trump separates old EB-5 from that category, renames it and makes it top preference as EB-1.

Yes, you're right. The bar of "gold card" of most countries is pretty low.

Your typical lefty can give you a dozen reasons America sucks upon command. They constantly run down this country and express their admiration for other countries and are famous for proclaiming that "there are many other better countries than the U.S." You used to understand that lefties fundamentally dislike their own country, but then something happened. Was it as simple an explanation as "California happened?" What was it?

Seems the left now has balls and the Trumpers are now the gutless pussies. Take you for instance, you’re an isolationist with no backbone. You have the nerve to defend a chicom and you welcome this scum into your little Trump club. Have at it. He won’t answer the questions that I posted because he knows that he’s a Putin cock sucker. I’m surprised that you can’t see that. Take a gander at his posts dating back to 2019. That might help.

Also, this could just be Trump's assessment that Ukraine is the party that isn't ready for peace.

But why does he care? Why not let Ukraine do what it wants to do to prod Russia into accepting peace? Dunno.

Of course, if Russia has one strength, it is a willingness to suffer massive casualties for a cause. We are nowhere near their maximum pain tolerance when it comes to deaths of their own people. So, if the war is to stop, Trump needs to make it look like Russia gained something. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I've never cared about that. Who decides to come down on which side does not determine what is the best decision nor the moral decision. The United States also finds itself among unsavory countries that still have the death penalty. Does that mean we are wrong to still have it?

Thread Level: 3

They need us much more than we need them. They can't afford to offend the United States. Sorry if this offends sensibilities, but it's the reality. I'm definitely not opposed to mutual defense alliances or judicious use of military aid to other countries. I am opposed to stupid use of aid, and I am opposed to quixotic wars that potentially hasten mutual assured destruction and wipe out a generation of young men.

I think I've identified the disconnect: You believe that foreign policy is about righting wrongs. That's a suicidal approach for a country. We have no more moral authority to tell other countries how to run their nations than they have to tell us how to run our nation. Would you be okay with a foreign country coming here and forcing regime change because they claim Trump to be a dictator and violator of the rights of his people? If the answer to that, and I hope it is, is that, no, they have no right to come here and do that, then by what nerve and right do you demand to be able to go to other countries and demand that they change their leaders or adopt policies that we want them to adopt? The running mate of the lady for whom you voted said repeatedly during the campaign, "Mind your own damn business." Should adopt that when it comes to dealing with other countries. If and when a military action actually threatens the United States, then that is the time to start military aid.

What makes you think it would work today? Our allies depend on us to be the leader and the beacon of hope. Trump is doing his best to alienate our allies. He actually instructed our UN ambassador to vote with the fucking Norks, Russians, and Iranians. Do you support that?

Sorry, I’m not a “head in the sand” isolationist like you. God forbid that the shit ever hits the fan. I truly hope that you’d make it, but I have my doubts.
