I'm a Big Fan of Jon Stewart, especially for his work to advance the PACT Act, which Biden helped

pass in memory of his son, Beau's death...which had a lot to do with the video clip you linked.

Since that clip was only a few minutes of a discussion lasting over an hour, I decided to view the entire session and have included it here. Often times those "Sound Bites" such as you chose, leave out critical information that can totally change the message it's trying to put forward...case in point...your clip did not show the immediate discussion between Jon Stewart and MIT PhD career bureaucrat, Kathleen Hicks, where she explained the reason WHY the DOD was unable to pass an audit...EVER. It's because the immense DOD doesn't have the requisite modern SOFTWARE...that private firms do...(like "SAP" integrated S/W)...AND that it will take on the order of 10 YEARS to omplement IF Congress provides the needed funding.....That has NOTHING to do with Waste or Fraud...even if JS doesn't acknowledge it.

Here's that Full back and forth between Stewart and Hicks...for convenience, go to the 0:29:30 mark for "Bureaucracy Issues"...0:36:20 mark for "Audit Explanation"...and 1:01:40 for "Lobbyists' Influence". Of course the best thing for you to do...if you care at all about the issue you posed...is to watch the entire event video...especially the very end where JS applauds KH for her work.

Bottom Line...You're being Lied to by whoever made that clip...beware, all you who rely on short clips and don't do any "Critical Thinking" or research. Should we be continually seeking out 'Waste and Fraud'?...Absolutely...but do it intelligently and professionally...with knowledgable people who understand the entire agency/government process...like Inspectors General, and Deputy Secretaries, like Ms Hicks.

As a taxpayer, we should be able to account for every dollar spent, agree or disagree?

Tell me when you've finished watching the entire discussion, then we can carry on.

We both know that your inability to answer the question has nothing to do with me.

As former Deputy Secretary of Defense, Kathleen Hicks, PhD said...it's up to Congress to provide sufficient funds to the DOD that enable them to account for every dollar...do you understand what she's saying?

Now we're getting somewhere.

Where I disagree is that they don't have the capability to determine where the money goes. Someone has to write a check for every dollar spent, but I suspect that the reason they "can't" is because there is intentional obfuscation to hide the fuckery.

I never thought I'd be on this side of the argument against a liberal that DoD should be able to pass an audit. I would have thought that this would be an easy thing for us to agree on against the neo-cons and corrupt war mongers on the right.

I understand the argument that Elon's "move fast and break things" approach is not the way we should be going about it. I also agree that Elon has a lot of potential for conflicts of interest. But it's because of "we can't tell you where the money went" that Elon is now involved.

tax cuts...ASAP...like in 2017 (first and only major legislation in 4 yrs). They (MAGAs) have zero patience or commitment to the hard...and cooperative...work it takes to make serious, enduring, change/progress...like Clinton and his GOP counterparts did. Dems have always shown a willingness to participate in bipartisan efforts...there are policy differences for sure, but even Obama accepted distasteful Republican codicils to his ACA in order to move the ball forward.

This DOGE thing has got to stop and the GOP House/Senate has got to step up...linking arms with Dems and set a timeframe for completing this much needed legislation...won't be easy with DJT in the WH, but if they keep bowing to him, they'll end up on the sidewalk staring in 2026.

I'd be completely happy with Congress doing their job.
