I don't know enough about the Columbia protest's details. Some of these "protests" were dreadful and involved trespassing, destruction of property, harassment of Jewish students. It was incredibly frustrating to see the Universities paralyzed by their political confusion and refusing to take action.

But without an arrest and criminal charges, I don't support deportation of permanent residents.

RICO case, seditious conspiracy. With the right jury, a conviction would be guaranteed when they showed the protest/occupation antisemitic posters, chants and vitriol.

Doesn't mean he's guilty of anything but charges and a conviction could be had. Closing argument would be: "This person came into the country on a student visa, led a violent uprising in support of Hamas, a terrorist organization" and then they would show the video from October 7.

"It’s true that, under the Immigration and Nationality Act, any foreigner who 'endorses or espouses' terrorist activity is considered inadmissible to the United States." The fact it's "rarely enforced" is irrelevant, as we saw with the prosecutions of Donald Trump.

However, to be consistent, just as I opposed the Obama Administration spying on and investigating reporters, the Biden Administration for pressuring private businesses for the content of their speech - equal threats to the 1st Amendment which lefties generally didn't care about - I will also oppose this action.

I'm curious: Why would we want people who support Hamas in our country? Why would we not deport them? Can you offer a reason? Why would we give citizens rights to non-citizens?

Should we lock up Eli for his pro Putin views? Oh wait, he’s just parroting our President.

What about a green card barkeeper from West Belfast posting about his hatred of the Crown and support for the IRA?

It becomes a slippery slope detaining persons who support unpopular groups.

Criminal conduct is different. To my knowledge, this gentleman has not been charged with a crime.

Obviously, they are a step up from nonimmigrant visa holders and illegal aliens. And, obviously we treat them better than most nations treat visitors.
But, the question is whether they get that treatment as a matter of right, or whether we just choose to extend them certain privileges until such time as those privileges are abused.

This is not my practice area; I would hire a specialist if i had an issue here. But, I'm guessing it is not as black and white as you say. Green card holders can't vote, they can't sit on juries, their status is not perpetual, and i believe some states have additional requirements for firearms purchases (althiugh they generally can buy guns, which surprised me). They can lose their residency status simply by staying abroad too long, or due to other causes, unlike citizens. So, there are differences between citizens and green card holders. I will leave it to the experts to decide if terrorist supporters can have their residency status revoked, but I certainly don't get why anyone would be upset at deporting a terrorist organization supporter.
