Musk is currently saying about subsidies and govt spending. It’s made him extravagantly rich. Orange andhe vie daily for the biggest hypocrite award.

...that's been the case with Solar Panels and EVs...as well as the Nuclear Power Industry. The "Art" of giving subsidies is knowing when to suspend them...as with the Oil & Gas Industry.

I have had a Tesla for five years. Best car I've owned. They are not the most attractive cars,

Let us know about resale value / battery pack replacement / accident repair / disposal fees.

Motortrend says a new battery pack is $10k-20k...which will have to be paid for by the consumer after 100k miles (or more miles on top models). That's a lot of money to have to poor into a used car with that kind of mileage to keep it running.

If you want to just dispose of it, I do wonder how much you will get charged. I can't imagine they just take those things at the dump, or just park them down by the river. Maybe Tesla takes the batteries back and will dispose of the car for you?

Seems like an environmental disaster waiting to happen.

I actually have had it for 7 years, and I intend to drive it until it no longer functions.

I know people who have traded in Teslas, and I don't think they were charged a disposal fee. I did not buy mine to virtue signal. But to your point, there are definitely legitimate arguments that EVs are not good for the environment, as mining for the battery parts and the disposal of the batteries does create environmental issues. There is a company owned by a former Tesla guy that is attempting to recycle the batteries.
