If tariffs are so bad (and my sense is they are)... how come so many countries get away with them?

Even if you hate Donald Trump... it kinda makes sense that we pressure those countries with high tariff barriers to lower them.

Tell me why I'm wrong... it's happened so many times I can take it.

Apparently they tariff us much more than we tariff them ... so why can't it be equal?

No Democrat or anyone in the mainstream media ever bothers to point this out. So it's either a right-wing lie (in which case they would gleefully point this out), or it's not convenient to their narrative.

Inherited strong economy and markets. Immediately shit the bed. Stop, just stop.

We should have free, open trade with our allies.
With non-allies, we should have reciprocal tariffs with a preference towards free trade.
With adversaries, we should not engage in trade with.

We shouldn't be reliant on China, for example, for manufacturing essential goods and components. Europe never should have been reliant on Russia for energy.

Free/open trade is the goal, but even our allies put tariffs on our goods.

The "smart people" that freak out about tariffs, including in the media seem completely oblivious to the trade landscape status quo.
