$250 million spent. Amazing. Can't wait for the faculty-student walkout and holding-their-breath-till-they-turn-red exhibitions.

"That was echoed by Regent Jordan Acker, a Democrat, who said the policy changes were 'fundamentally about improving our diversity efforts to make them work better.'

Acker, who began voicing concerns over the university’s DEI programs last year, said the university had spent $250 million on diversity efforts in recent years, much of it to administrative overhead, while the population of minority students had seen little growth."

DEI was absolutely DIVISIVE. The races are now commingling naturally.

I live in the D, which was as racially divided as imaginable. Now we have a white mayor in a city 70+% black and the races actually enjoy one another’s cultures and interests (and this includes the recent flood of Asian immigrants). For decades Colman Young clung to power by race bating and the city only declined deeper and deeper.Today it is seriously rebounding and it ain’t because of DEI.

Sounds like the funding may have come from the feds and it's not coming anymore

I believe that makes them a Nazi and/or an incel, but it begs the question...

Would you rather be a Nazi or a wolverine?

I love the "incel" slur.

Curiously, the same folks who throw that around are quite offended, justifiably, when a man breaks out "fat bitch" to try to destroy the humanity and dignity of a woman.

BTW, I have no time for angry young men who blame women for their problems. However, most of the people who have this slur attached to them aren't angry at the opposite sex. Mosat are depressed young people, male and female, who for various reasons, are isolated and lonely. They're just desperate for connections with other human beings. If you've ever personally listened to a young adult express despair in situations like this, it's gut-wrenching. Often, it's because they lost life's lottery in the looks department. This is particularly true with young women. Life's hard enough just dealing with the things you can control.

Agreed, and it's the people that have infinite empathy for a young person who thinks they're a cat,

have none for these poor kids.

This is why the DEI concept of privilege is completely wrong. A hot black chick who grew up in a trailer park has way more opportunities in life than a white male incel.

If you read the article, it said that they spent $250M and didn't become more diverse.

So, it really has nothing to do with increasing diversity, but to stop wasting money. Sound familiar?

You didn't read the UM President's letter, did you....

...from that letter...
-----------------------
Since the inception of our DEI strategic plan in 2016, we have made important progress in opening opportunities and supporting the success of all students. First-generation undergraduate students, for example, have increased 46% and undergraduate Pell recipients have increased by more than 32%, driven in part by impactful programs such as Go Blue Guarantee and Wolverine Pathways. The work to remove barriers to student success is inherently challenging, and our leadership has played a vital role in shaping inclusive excellence throughout higher education.
----------------------

Those programs mentioned are part of the UM DEI effort...so, indeed, progress was made with their DEI funding...in spite of an opponent's comments.

As Jon Stewart so eloquently described MAGA's obsession with DEI...."Competence Equals The White Guy"...

dropping their Program by what I'll term a Racist, Sociopathic President and his cronies...a man who invites White Supremacist, Nick Fuentes, to dinner at Mar-a-Lago.

With evidence that clear, you have to be in league with that crowd...btw, I'm sure the University of Notre Dame wouldn't think too highly of that mentality...you know you don't have to root for ND if you really don't like what it stands for.

of UCLA's Medical School coming under "fire" by anti-DEI extremists...who also don't have a clue as to the mission of such an institution.

btw, I posted before in this very issue...and conferred with our "family Docs", who happen to be very much aware, through personal experience, how Medical Schools and Residency Programs make their selections...they totally agree with the linked L.A. Times review of that situation.

You would be well advised to read the linked article...and heed the message included within it. Hopefully, you'll realize you're hanging out with the wrong crowd.

When a political party puts a financial 'gun' to the heads of outstanding American Universities...nothing good is going to come from it.
