The case for withdrawing from NATO. Makes some points worth considering.

E.g., we can always come to the aid of Europe, but current membership in this dated, anti-Soviet treaty organization encourages Europe not to defend itself, and instead to just be a dependent of the US, while judging us and denying us access as if we are not members.

I'm not arguing for this position...yet. But, there are some valid points to this position that at least merit discussion.

Link: Withdrawal is not isolationism; it is the maneuver required to win in the generations of war ahead.

need important/rare minerals from other nations...but alliances to hold in check enemies who would otherwise run roughshod over us without them. We are strong, but not invulnerable...as the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz shows all too clearly.

There have been "America First" advocates throughout our history...thank heaven we've also had intelligent leaders to keep them at bay.

None of that has anything to do with the article. Read it.

Also note that our NATO allies are not obligated to protect us if we are attacked in the Pacific or the Middle East...anywhere not in the north Atlantic. Your point about us being strong but not invulnerable supports the point of the article I linked.

jump in his article he gets it all wrong. Trump not only failed to absorb the counsel of our Military and Intelligence leaders, he totally ignored NATO in whatever passed for "Planning" the War on Iran...which now has DJT literally begging for assistance from them...i.e. that Idiot in the Oval Office is just a tool for Bibi and Putin...one needs firepower for his Holy War, while the other needs to fracture and diminish America as an adversary while getting a quick infusion of much needed cash. All Trump cares about is being able to live a luxurious life and stay out of prison for the way he's amassing his funds. Once he's removed from office you are going to witness what a horrible decision you've made to not oppose him...vigorously.

Further wrt that groundless article...our Worldwide Alliances are there for OUR protection FIRST and FOREMOST...and for all those who believe in Democracy, Justice and Fair Trade...for the good of ALL. To that point I've added a link that speaks to our Pacific Region Alliances (e.g. ANZUS, QUAD, and COFA...involving Japan, So. Korea, Australia, Phillipines, India, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau). All of them together can't match or provide the funds needed to maintain those alliances...but we NEED their cooperation to extend our military reach...that again...PROTECTS our own shores...Same with NATO.

One more time...the U.S. has a DOD Budget right now that is 2X that of our two largest threats...Russia and China...COMBINED....yet we have willingly joined these alliances and willingly paid for their existence...even if more than most do...UNTIL Donald 'The Tool' Trump gained access to our highest office.

The sooner you wake up to this reality, the better off you'll be. You don't have to admit this to me or anyone else...just make the right call and ACT accordingly.

The Euros don’t want to fight the only real threat to them in Europe and don’t want to help us fight a terrorist regime that haz been killing Americans for 50 years. Let them enjoy their quaint cultural traditions in peace and forget about them.

...I wouldn't expect someone who still thinks the Soviets are our enemies to take anything other than a pro-NATO position.

Yep. Russia is no threat and we definitely should abandon our allies. Resoundingly stupid.

But you supported my point. You have yet to get over the Soviets.

If you don’t see similarities between Russia and the Cold War Soviet Union, you’re either blind or dumb. Take a second and absorb my superior intellect. You continually post stupid shit. I’m sure you’re a nice enough guy…at least that’s what Baron said, but I question your mental acuity.
