He was pushing on 5 fronts, one of the biggest being Sherman's push toward Atlanta. General Johnston of the Confederacy, commanding the Army of Tennessee, planned a defensive campaign against Sherman, hoping to hold on long enough that a war weary North would oust Abraham Lincoln at the ballot box that fall, and then "get a deal."

This reminded me of what Iran obviously hopes for. Iran hears the Democrats constant and loud opposition to Trump, and if there is one thing Iran's regime is good at, it is making its own people suffer...they are good at waiting. They just need to wait things out long enough for the Democrats to finally succeed at assassinating Trump, or at least slow him down by swaying public opinion...perhaps impeach him after winning the midterm elections. The Democrats are giving reasons to Iran to stay in the fight, all the while criticizing Trump for staying in the fight and for not getting a deal. Two months of bombing is a "quagmire," say the US Democrats...which is music to Iran's ears. They want the American electorate to think that. The Democrats call for a public time limit; Iran wants that. Iran is obviously hoping for a Democrat victory this fall at least, and hopefully a fourth assassin or an impeachment. Barring that, enough pressure on Trump by the Democrats that he feel compelled to "get a deal" ... any deal, like the Democrats are demanding.

Israel, whose leader talked him into providing military power in his Zionist quest to eliminate Iran as an impediment to his 'One State' (Jewish) Palestine, which no previous President...from either party...would agree to.

Trump created this mess and needs to end it...asap...as we spend over $1B/day along with increasing living costs and national debt. NO WAY does DJT get to avoid those difficult questions...at the very least, to the "Gang of Eight".
