Latent racism in Ann Arbor!
If you are removing anti-crime signs that make no mention of race because you assert that they send a negative message to minorities this means that you see them as criminals.

Years ago, San Jose encouraged the formation of Neighborhood Associations, and part of that
involved "Neighborhood Watch" groups, with 'Block Captains' and coordination between neighbors and with the SJPD...it also included signage. I was a board member of our local Association. It's a good thing and while the signage helps, it's not the Be All and End All. What really counts is for neighbors to get educated on how to make their homes more resistant to crime, and have active coordination between neighbors, which can wane over time, as happened with ours. Btw, our neighborhood has over time become quite diverse...and accepting, with annual "Multicultural Picnics" where residents bring food to share from their cultural heritage...i.e. no racism...and very well attended.
As for Ann Arbor, hopefully they continue to actively engage in the education and communication aspects of Neighborhood Watch...and be willing to change their approach to signage, should crime statistics rise.
Pumping this 'Watching Out for Crime' issue a few levels, I can't help but roll my eyes at Trump supporters who don't raise an eyebrow when DJT fires 17 Inspectors General and suspends Reporting on Stock Market "Short Sales" until the end of his term in office...seems just a bit incongruous to me.

While the Bay Area is extremely difficult to live in for those without capital assets, Democrats
like former San Jose Mayor, Sam Liccardo, have and continue to initiate changes that improve the situation...go to his website, or click on the link.
Now, back to the issue of Neighborhood Watch and signage...the program is a good one, and signage can help, but the core efforts that make it work are Education and Active Coordination by the Neighborhood residents...just relying on signage won't cut it.

I 've live in or adjacent to A2 for decades and there is no more inclusive city anywhere.
My children (who are a racial/cultural mix) had close friends of every conceivable race and culture.
It's hard to imagine why this issue ever came up.
From your testimony it could be that FOX got a little over their ski tips on the editorializing of
what happened. Nonetheless, there's nothing wrong with signage in windows...we did it.
