It was the only thing holding back a tsunami of gerrymandering

The new districts are not going to be drawn with black and white in mind, but red and blue.

And the country will suffer.

Way to go, SCOTUS!

'the country will suffer' is proggie code for 'Dems will lose seats'

It is a scourge on our democracy. But the GOP loves it, along with the other structural, undemocratic advantages that the system gives them.

A backlash will come. DC and Puerto Rico will be states, to start. As they should.

Six New England states are represented exclusively by Dems. 21 Dems, 0 GOP. Approx 40% of the voters in those states vote GOP. 0 GOP representatives.

Your selective outrage is telling. I do agree with you that this is a scourge on our democracy.

If tit for tat gerrymandering continues among states, D's have much less left to change & know it.

The truth is, as you pointed out, that Democrats have been enjoying a massive gerrymander advantage for years. To them, any move to counter their advantage is anathema.

It's an excellent example of Liberalism Rule #2: The rules are for thee and not me.

One party supports a ban on gerrymandering. One party blocks it.

I oppose all gerrymandering.

The current round is entirely Trump’s fault. He pushed Texas to act, setting off the dominos.

America will be worse off for it. Not that he cares. Or his followers:

Lol. Dems support the ban of FURTHER gerrymandering after gaining the advantage.

Both parties love it. To suggest otherwise is naive at best.

It blinds us all to what is mutually beneficial.

Too often it means voting against self interest.

I'll trade you DC and Puerto Rico for Western NY and Eastern California.

Politics is all about power... issues are merely measures to achieve and hold it.
