I don’t see it as chickening out
He knows that opening that strait is in the vital national interest of the United States. There is some wiggle room - we are still a few weeks away from critical shortages - but if this drags into the summer, global economic disaster is a real possibility.
He has to cut a deal. And soon.

It’s really important that some deal gets done. However I have no faith in this idiot
it’s not that he chickens out it’s that he’s too stupid to see the damage he’s causing to this country and he’s announced over and over a deal is imminent and it never is.
He is the anti-Christ.
He has been manipulating the markets for weeks
And he has set expectations that he needs to meet.
If the shooting starts again, that expectation bubble will burst. And we’ll get to the depression even faster.
