It certainly should have been disclosed that he directed funds to the lab that developed the virus*.
Just his knowledge alone that he had done that most certainly impacted his decision making.
(* for the inevitable from the board propagandist - The weight of evidence points to the lab in Wuhan that Fauci gave money to and hence trusted their scientists when he should not have, Since China is blocking efforts that would determine the origin, the logical assumption is that they are doing so because they know it will ultimately point to their culpability.)

For one, it allowed bypass of Voter ID laws. 2nd-it reflected on the POTUS in office. 3rd...
...it created massive dependence on the govt of an entire new swath of the normally working population and small businessmen - something that the Dems always want to foster as it ties int heir votes,
4th - it allowed the Left to shut down churches and other organizations that it loathes - and it did so selectively as time went on (remember that it was governors and local bureacrats who got to decide on most restrictions),
5th - it allowed liberals to satisfy their natural desire to control the actions of others.
