Prior to this year, it has hosted the US Open four times. In those four US Opens, the number of golfers to finish the tournament under par is......three.

• Retief Goosen (2004, -4)
• Phil Mickelson (2004, -2)
• Ray Floyd (1986, -1)

Was there yesterday. This is actually the 6th time Shinnecock has hosted the US Open.

I have attended 5 (1986, 1995, 2004, 2018 & now 2026). I missed the one in 1896 however...

As my post indicated where I stated 'Prior to this year', I referenced four previous times. I omitted 1896 as it is not relevant to modern scoring. But your point is taken.
