Watermelon, a summer favorite, is the most overrated fruit. Prove me wrong.

Just in terms of melon fruits, a ripe cantaloupe or honeydew is far superior.

In summer? Watermelon beats any fruits by a mile. Cantaloupe/honeydew is rich, good for salad.

Peaches, nectarines, all sorts of berries, pineapples, cherries all superior to watermelon.

It's bottom of the barrel fruit. It's like arguing that Three Musketeers or Butterfinger are tip tier candy bars.

Pineapples suck. You just lost the argument in my mind.

Tend to agree…but it garners points for being the best fruit to inject with Vodka…

Watermelon beats all fruits you mentioned in refreshing & texture, but lose to them in flavors.

But in summer and actually in many occasions refreshing is the reason why people eat fruits.

Please don't tell me you're offended by my take on fruits. I mean, I get politics. I sort of get movies. But fruit? Really, Jim?

Watermelon is best for hydration.

Nothing tastes like summer more than a crisp, juicy, refreshing bite of watermelon. It’s a staple of backyard barbecues and well-stocked at your local farmers' markets this time of year. And if you can't wait to slice into this summertime staple, pat yourself on the back for partaking in a super nutritious seasonal tradition — new research says that watermelon eaters tend to have a higher quality diet featuring more fiber, magnesium, potassium, vitamin A and other antioxidants, plus lower in added sugars and saturated fat.

Fruits are best ordered by nutrient density—the concentration of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants relative to their calorie count. The most nutrient-packed fruits pack exceptional amounts of daily vitamins and phytonutrients into small caloric packages.A top-tier ranking of the most nutritious fruits available at Manhattan markets like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's includes:1. The Nutritional Powerhouses (Tier 1)These fruits are generally the highest in fiber, antioxidants, and essential micronutrients per calorie.Kiwifruit: Often considered one of the most nutritionally dense fruits. It is exceptionally high in Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and Vitamin E.Cranberries & Pomegranates: Topping many Aggregate Nutrient Density Index charts, they are uniquely rich in polyphenols, which help fight inflammation and support urinary/heart health.Berries (Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries): Low in sugar but incredibly high in fiber, manganese, and anthocyanins (potent brain-healthy antioxidants).Avocados: While commonly treated as a savory food, they are botanically a fruit. They stand out for their heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, potassium, and fiber.Tomatoes: Widely categorized as both a fruit and a culinary vegetable. Under the CDC's "Powerhouse" methodology, tomatoes score highly due to their robust profile of lycopene, Vitamin C, and potassium.2. Vitamin & Enzyme Heavyweights (Tier 2)These are excellent daily additions, though they can be slightly higher in natural sugars or lower in overall fiber than Tier 1 fruits:Oranges & Lemons: Citrus fruits are universally praised for their massive Vitamin C content.Papaya & Mango: Loaded with provitamin A, Vitamin C, and enzymatic compounds (like papain in papaya) that aid digestion.Pineapple: Packed with Vitamin C, manganese, and bromelain, a highly effective anti-inflammatory enzyme.3. Everyday Staples (Tier 3)Apples, Bananas, & Peaches: These are still highly nutritious, rich in dietary fiber (like pectin in apples), and provide good bursts of potassium and B vitamins. They generally rank lower only because they are slightly more calorie-dense or have lower overall micronutrient diversity than the berry or citrus families. If you want to narrow this down, tell me:What specific health goals are you targeting (e.g., weight loss, immune support, or blood sugar management)?Do you have any dietary restrictions or preferences (e.g., low-sugar, budget-friendly, or locally sourced in Manhattan)?I can help curate a specific shopping list for your needs.

I first discovered I didn't like it in kindergarten. I had a nasty teacher named Mrs. Waller (Mrs. Walnuthead to me at the time), whom I will never forgive for how she tormented one of my classmates who was fed Ritalin, and whom she sent daily to the principal, Mr. B, to be paddled. She was only exceeded by my fourth grade teacher, who ate whole sticks of straight butter for lunch and kept about a dozen shoes under her desk.

And tried all the tips. Seem to lack flavor and definitely not as sweet as I remember. Could just be a Florida thing. Not a fan of honeydew or cantaloupe.

I won't put in the effort required for the seeds. I do like green and cantaloupe better.
