Went golfing this week. Challenging local course.

Two friends. Starter asked if a 15 year old could join us.

It wasn’t crowded, so we said sure. We figured he might slow us down a bit, but he’s learning, so we said sure.

Turns out the kid is the nephew of a well respected local PGA
teaching pro.

Kid bombed the ball and had great touch around the greens. Shot a legit 80.

This kid was so polite that we watched our language.

Best not to stereotype young people.

After 3-4 months of feeling a tear, I saw a knee guy in April 2025, thinking I may need it scoped.

The X-ray showed the knee looked like “crabmeat.” But the doctor said 50% of my peer group would show the same, and that my other knee that had zero pain is likely identical.

He told me to be more mindful re getting in and out of car, exercising, etc. Within two weeks, zero pain. It just went away. No issues since.

Feeling good. Just walked nine with my mates. Very hilly. The “walk” and banter beats the quality of play, but always an enjoyable study break from the office. Still work 7 days/week. Our club has no tee times. We just show up and go. No practice. No practice swings. Always nine holes, and a pint afterwards on the Adirondack chairs.

No complaints. Feeling blessed at age 65.

Time is always an obstacle for me, but bmail me. Let’s see if we can figure out a window to play.

On a standard public course he’s consistently in the 70’s.

Hope to see this kid again.

At some point they are going to have to change the golf ball or the equipment specs.

Great golf courses cannot continue to be stretched out.
Courses like Merion and The OCC will still hold serve,
But many will not.

Not a fan of Shinnecock. Not a hater, just think the greens are a problem for majors.

It’s well documented.

At the OCC it’s hit the fairways, greens in regulation below the hole, and then navigate the delicious greens.
