It is because building long-term infrastructure is actually a form of saving. Because it actually preserves capital, reduces future replacement costs and increases future productivity.
If increasing tax is just for expanding social programs, I am against it. Because it is purely spending, i.e. tax and spend policy.
I thought our fuel taxes, vehicle registration, tolls, parking, etc were supposed to pay for roads and bridges.
