Under traditional interpretations of Sharia (Islamic law), same-sex sexual acts are viewed as sinful and forbidden. Legal systems that base their penal codes on Sharia enforce severe punishments for homosexuality, ranging from public flogging and long prison terms to the death penalty.

Of course many reputedly Catholic Dems support abortion so I guess personal beliefs are irrelevant when it comes to obtaining power.
