Minor league pro teams cloaked in the branding and tradition of colleges. Riding the existing fan
bases while they can now until people wise up or accept it.
I believe there will be a lot of attrition over time as the real tradition and the attachment (if imperfect) to actual “student-athletes” is lost entirely.
I’m hoping ND wins a NC so I can sign off. My interest in the current game is waning.
I’ve turned to other college sports where there is still some legit competition: lacrosse, volleyball, softball, wrestling.
Have said the same and am doing same. Having a small crisis of faith as not sure why Baby Jesus
…didn’t let ND just win in 2024.

I still prefer the old one Bowl Game for each team, no playoffs, and let the sportswriters pick the #1 team.
And yes, college basketball and college football is a money driven minor league to the NBA and NFL.

There needs to be settled expectations.
Take the kid who stays at his school to compete in his final year of eligibility to be a starter or for a host of reasons. Suddenly, the other kid who opted to play professionally is now back on campus.
That would be on the coach, IMO.
