I'm not sure how much of the testimonies you watched, but in Gen. Milley's opening remarks
he testified that the Trump administration issued an unclassified request in mid-November, 2020, to remove ALL U.S. forces from Afghanistan by Jan. 15, 2021...fortunately, saner advice ruled the day and at least 2,500 troops were ordered to remain there (at the lowest end of the 2,5K - 4.5K range initially recommended).
Any attempt to portray Joe Biden as being 'reckless' with protection for the withdrawal is completely misplaced...it was Donald Trump who wanted NO U.S. military presence to be in place before Biden took office....it was only through the efforts of Gen. Milley and other advisors that we even had 2.5K on May 1st...a date that was fortunately moved to Aug. 31st by Biden, which allowed 124K allied Afghanis and nearly all Americans to be airlifted out.
BTW, I'm assuming that Gen. Milley has a copy of that Nov. 2020 order which shows Trump's attempt to cut and run, leaving essentially all allied Afghanis unprotected and without secured means of being evacuated...the real "villain" in all of this is Donald Trump and again, I'm betting that there's documented proof of it.
