In almost every mass shooting case, there are red flags, especially with teenagers.
This case appears to present much more egregious enabling/failure to act by the parents — resulting in the criminal charges brought today.
Typically, school shooters are troubled, lonely, dysfunctional kids, — who have passive parents or parent, — who have surrendered to shame or fatigue or conditioning, whereby they ignore/suppress obvious red flags. They make excuses for their kid’s odd or worrisome behavior, and assume “things will turn out for the best” over time.
Communities and schools need to be more proactive. Constructive interventions.

So instead of reading for yourself you go straight lazy and ask the board?
They bought him the gun. Plenty of communication they knew he had thoughts of doing this (premediated).

parents actions/in-actions...read what they did and let us know what you think...(e.g. Mom after the shooting text to her son: "LOL I'm not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught.").

Mea Culpa, Musky...that is the correct sequence of events...still, since federal law requires
handgun buyers/owners to be 21 yrs old, for Mom to be LOL'ing her teenager about getting caught seeking ammunition is hardly a testimonial to her 'good judgement'...she and her husband have significant life changes ahead of them...hopefully, you agree with the prosecutor.

I do agree with charges. I’m sure there’s a lot more to the story
than the parents buying the gun. Very strange the day of the shooting they get called to the
school and shown a bloody picture and the
thought never crossed their mind about the
gun. Very very odd. It sounds like the
Apple didn’t fall too far from the tree with
this family.-

Agree...have to believe...and pray...that they are beyond the 6-Sigma fringe and not
just one of a larger cohort.

I think they were aware of what he was going to do. From what I read his mom
Sent him a text shortly before the shooting started saying “don’t do it”. They were at the school the same day because of some concerning messages he had written. The parents bought him his gun on Black Friday.

Something stinks thats for sure. They new they just purchased the gun a few
days before. They get called up to school about a bloody picture he drew. You think they might think something ain’t right. The parents are probably as loopy as the kid.

I think this should happen in all these incidents.
Parents should face serious charges if their weapons are used by their kids in a crime. Secure those guns.
