Don't feel too bad, you were fooled by ESPN and the media.
They told you Kobe was MJ and you believed that it was actually up for debate. They told you the Celtics were old and only were good because of the week Eastern Conference.
They never brought up defense even though the Spurs have won 3 of the 4 championships because of their defense. They ignored the fact the Celtics won every match up other then Kobe.
They ignored that the Celts have a deep bench and Rivers is great at using it. They ignored that the Celtics have played as a team all year, not just when things are going good. They ignored that Kobe hasn't won zip, zero, squat, without the most dominant big man in the world at the time.
Funny thing is, these morons get paid to do this. After the first game, this was one of the easier finals to predict. Pretty much a mismatch.
The Celtics have not dominated this series. Game 2 could've swung the Lakers way, and they pretty much handed away Game 4. They choked. Kobe hasn't elevated his game at times when he needed to. Lamar Odom plays one good half and then checks out mentally. Plus he's soft. The Lakers are perhaps an Andrew Bynum away. The Celtics match up well with the Lakers for sure, but they're hardly an unstoppable force. It took them seven to finish off both the Cavs and the Hawks.
I expected Kobe to be more "Jordanesque" in the later halves of these finals games. He hasn't been, and that's what the Lakers needed to win this series.
Does anyone else notice how he'll barrel into the paint, intent on taking the shot himself, only to discover there is no shot, and then one of two things happen:
a) He goes right ahead and takes a ridiculous shot and bricks it.
b) He realizes he has to pass, has no idea where his teammates are around him, leaps into the air holding the ball above his head looking for an outlet. Almost like he's waving a white flag.
Growing up watching guys like Magic and Michael, I didn't see them do this. Not that they never attempted a bad shot or made a lousy pass, but when they drove into the paint and didn't have a good look, they were still aware of where their teammates were. Both were excellent passers. I can't say the same about Kobe.
Lakers fans have feelings too...
Jack Nicholson too for that matter.
Kobe should never ever be compared to MJ.
