It was relaxing and more low-key than usual...after hosting a super-spreader event the night before.

Christmas dinner was less ambitious than usual.

Fresh Caeser Salad (We are ALL Caesers!)

Roast prime tenderloin of beef with herbed gravy
Potatoes au gratin (Galatoire's recipe from NOLA.)
Roasted Brussel Sprouts with bacon, red pepper, and a touch of maple syrup

Accompanied by a very nice Barolo.

Homemade NY style cheesecake for dessert.
Christmas cookies, of course.

Irish Coffee

(Kidding about Christmas Eve...but was actually cut last minute from 30 to 15 due to people with Omicron or exposure.)

When we host Christmas dinner have done, Beef Wellington, stuffed crown roast of pork, stuffed crown roast of lamb, Standing Rib Roast...among many others. Have threatened to do a goose...but haven't...yet.

I slow-roasted a large duck with garlic, olive oil, pink Himalayan salt, lemon. Red skin (on) mashed potatoes. Italian Sausage and Herb Stuffing. A 3-layered hand-whipped mousse (Dark Chocolate, Butterscotch, White Chocolate) for dessert.

We were so stuffed we couldn't finish. Tempted to spread out the courses, but unsure an 8- and 5-year-old have the attention span for it. What is your timing for that?

I had one medium slice, ate some veggies and prayed I wouldn't pass out from overeating. Dessert went okay but that happened an hour or so later.
She kept up but felt the same by dinner's end. We don't have children so it's an as we go dinner experience.

We went for a walk later, got back an hour or so later from that and polished off another bourbon each.
She likes to go more traditional with the cooking.

I like your meal more. I'll send this to her computer for a look see - see if she'll come up with something similar if not the same for a birthday dinner.

Mashed potatoes, sausage, duck - awesome. That butterscotch mousse is right up my alley.

I had a healthy hangover today - I hangovers can be healthy. I'm into a Woodford Reserve right now. Seriously, I have to find limits and stick to them.

with this omi. I know you posted that all guests got tested before attending this gethering. But, since you all are very cautious don't you think it is more important to get tested after a big gethering event? On the other hand, don't panic if any of them test positive. It's also true that Omi is indeed very mild.

Btw, What main ingredients used for that braided pork? Cider? I am sure it is not braised pork with soy sauce. LOL.

I know you realize the Democrats are the elitist party now, and that you are losing normal every day Americans. You can decide to revel in that. We'll see if that works for you. It might. Time will tell.

The Democrats have clearly lost a substantial chunk of those voters, and are well aware of the need to convince blue collar voters to not vote against their kitchen table interests. Trump did a great job selling them fear. Democrats helped with the wokeness and coastal elitism. Not a secret.

The Biden and Pelosi Democrat agenda is clearly focused on working families. They need to sell it better.
