They delivered prepared remarks that were prepared before knowing what Trump would say.
My point has nothing to do with Trump. Delivering a prepared "response" to a national address by the president is not good for the Republic. A traditional response addressing the president's actual words via traditional mediums would have been far more effective and far less divisive.
