Heard this as bumper music the other day on local talk radio. Great song. Great band.

I wanted them to stop talking, and just play the song.

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.

They've been around for years and when Neil Young wrote "Southern Man" they jumped in his face with "Sweet Home Alabam" in which they called him out my name, "Well I hope Neil Young will remember, Southern Man don't need him around."
Supposedly the name comes from a teacher they had in high school who's name was "Leonard Skinner." I'm not sure about that part.
The song rebutting Young did not endorse red-neck values. They even disowned Wallace-supposedly-and just sang the song because they didn't want some Canadian putting down the South.

If i know who LS is, I'm confident that Jim does. I'd check your batteries.

LS is an extremely well known rock band in their era. Their music still receives considerable air play.

I think the Skynyrd-Young feud is one of the most misinterpreted in music.

Young and the Skynyrd boys made no secret of their mutual admiration but your larger point is correct. Skynyrd wasn't siding with the rednecks, they were saying not all Southerners are rednecks. Young thought the lyrics were "cool".

Lots of stuff I didn’t know...and made me listen to them for the first time in decades.

Street Survivors is their best album, in my view, and I Know a Litte is my favorite of their songs...
