This would be a titanic change. Why now? Why at all is a better question.

I am guessing this would cause an uproar.

Everything blooms and fades. Baseball just doesn't quite fit in the era of modern technology. It has become a relic.

Moronic rule changes in an attempt to reduce length of games

I remember when games averaged 2 hours. Lowering the pitcher’s mound is another of those Bob Gibson type attempts to make more run scoring. Unfortunately today’s baseball fan does not know shit about the game and love .240 hitters who either strike out or hit home runs with an upper cut swing. Don’t even get me started about making the NL adopt the stupid DH hitter rule.

That’s the idea, everyone has to hit as well as play their position.

The strategy of getting around the pitcher’s hitting issues is what makes the game much more interesting.

It also means if Mr. Headhunter is gonna pitch at someone, he needs to step into the batters box as well.

Would guess the earliest this could happen is 2022 with the new collective bargaining agreement. Players Association loves it because it gives a couple more year for aging fatties to make some coin.

Personally, I hate the DH. It’s designed for unthinking AL fans who like to say, “Ooooh, dinger!”. NL fans tend to be more erudite and love the complexities of double switches to keep Bartolo Colon from swinging a bat with bases loaded and two outs.

Is NL attendance down?? This has to do with fans wanting more offense and scoring.
