I am still a skeptic - especially for 2020 - but there is a very rapid change going on in Texas. First, the educated people in the suburbs are turned off by Trump. And second, Latinos - 40-45% of whom were reliable GOP voters in the Bush era - are apparently not happy about being called "invaders." I guess the GOP strategists just did not see that coming.
If this were to happen, and if it turned out to be sustainable, there would be no more GOP presidents in our lifetime. Might just be anti-Trump momentum...but the young people of Texas appear to be like young people everywhere - they are turning against the GOP in enormous numbers. Four GOP House members are retiring, which is certainly due to what their internal polling is telling them.
Lots of numbers here: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/08/politics/could-texas-go-blue-2020/index.html

And all things are cyclical, even if it takes the GOP a long time to recover from Trump.

Assimilated Hispanics become republicans. Any shift in voters really has to do with people moving into Texas from more liberal states. I do agree liberals have more influence in texas, but I question if that will continue when their liberal policies start “messing with Texas.”

D just keep losing white votes in presidential elections. This is a trend too. Since white will still be majority for at least 25 years, that means in next 25 year losing 1% white votes while gaining 1% minority votes, you still end up at a net loss of votes.
the states.

there are risks to both sides when that happens.
The D’s problem is that many Hispanics are culturally conservative. The lib squad turns them off.
or a Massachusetts liberal, or whoever else you're going to put up.
If he wins the nomination, Texas will be a swing state.

Sure, he has to prioritize.
I don't see why he isn't making a bigger play for African-Americans. I would think that they see that they are hurt by illegal immigration. He should be setting up meetings with urban leaders, and launching some sort of Dem-like initiative.

Thanks Omar.
TX will hold - esp since hispanics don't stay in Dem control.
But if MN slips to trump...he wins. And he only lost by 2 points or so in 2016 before Omar's alienating behavior.

which is what the Democrats count on. They demand expanded background checks on honest law abiding citizens who want to exercise their Second Amendment rights, but call any attempt to do even voter ID, much less background checks on prospective voters “voter suppression”.
Turns out that Trump cannot win unless the stupids turn out in large numbers.
Once you understand that, so many of his actions and so much of his rhetoric become more understandable.
William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn have won.

I've read the left wing sites and those specific polls. Don't buy it for a second.
None of us are going to say we like Trump publicly since the left has made such a point of shaming and acting out.
