I agree with Bill Maher on this. Though a better health care system like Single Payer would be a great thing for this nation
people need to have healthier diets - Dr's need to work on preventative measures instead of treating symptoms.
But in the end, fat people usually have greater and more dire health issues - issues across the board - and require more medicine to treat their symptoms when eating some greens
instead of triple Jack-cheese burger with double ranch, bacon and sweet Carolina BBQ sauce with a double side of creamy butter mashed potatoes on the side along with
a gallon cup of Dr. Pepper. And that's just the appetizer.
A lot more self control at breakfast, lunch and dinner table.
I see it in my own family. Brothers/Sisters/Cousins that eat healthy and exercise have vastly different health profiles.
Our “health care” system has become one of treating symptoms rather than underlying causes.
was viewed as a women thing or a childish thing. If a guy likes sweets, not just men mock him, women will also view him very girly. The first culture shock I had in America is on my first day in the school when I met my graduate coordinator, a real gentleman and nice person. His office was open and he was eating snicker when I followed the sectary of dept office entering his office. It amused me at that moment to see a 6'2"guy eating candy. It was unthinkable to me at that time.

The obsession with thinness is not healthy either, and has led to the rise of eating disorders. Perhaps these problems correspond to our barbell shaped socioeconomic society. There is not a single client or attorney I deal with that is obese, or even close. ND alumni and parent events rarely have obese people (sometimes an old lineman?). ED disorders tend to arise in the ranks of overachieving people from that general group.
The less-educated classes seem (of multiple races) seem to have more of the overweight problem.
Let's also assume that I'm not the only one that has noticed that. Your suggestion of shaming people might well do two things - increase the incidences of ED among the educated class (who don't have an obesity problem), and increase resentment in the less-educated classes that the "others" are trying tell them they are losers. I see it just creating more of the "divide" we already have.
I know a lot of highly educated people who are as big as a house.
It's not that controversial a connection

...clients and new hires sit in it before accepting them...
African American women who are the most loyal Democrat voters. So using identity politics they are:
African American
Women
Uneducated
Unmarried 67% children born out of wedlock
And, they have the highest obesity rates
Wonder if any of this group are prevalent at ND alumni events or are clients of Lehigh? The one thing we do know they didn’t vote for Trump.
I guess I don't know what identity politics is.
I suggested that fat shaming might be bad because it might appear that the educated elites are telling others how to live.
Are you suggested that any analysis of an issue based on effects of people of different education levels is "identity politics"?
That ND alumni are thin, as are your clients. Are you a fatist? Or do you have a reputation for having educated and thin clients. What are you suggesting in making those comments?
I was looking at the highly-educated/less-educated divide, specifically. I perceive a resentment the less-educated folks towards the elitism of the highly-educated folks. I thought that was part of the anti-globalism, anti-climate change schtick. I thought it a bad idea for the highly-educated elites to shame fat folks, who are disproportionately less-educated.
I don't know why that makes you start defending Trump voters.

You are getting dangerously close to making shit up about me. Don't be Cole.

politics. It sucks. And that is what has being going on for two years with Trump voters. We are the uneducated, obese, lazy, unemployed, gun owning, bible thumping, white nationalist racists. No we are not. Again I say for the thousandth time, some support Trump’s policies not his tweets or the man. May be hard for you to believe but compared to W he’s a breath of fresh air.

His commentary demonstrates our selective agendas. Obesity and drinking diet sodas are killing millions of Americans but let’s focus on gun deaths. Why not be consistent? But that would cross to many barriers with the huge food and beverage industries. It’s slow death not like a mass shooting or airplane crashes so it is ignored.
I don’t think under-mocking is a cause of the obesity epidemic. And I don’t think more mockery can solve it.
Like her or hate her, the positive message promoted by Michelle Obama had the same goal, and had a much better chance to help.
If it emphasized portion control over kale, it would have been better. But still.
Like Fat Monica on Friends.
Na, na, na, gonna have a good time!
