Take a wild guess.
This is a classic liberal take. Do everything possible to damage something, and when the predictable results occur, demand that ‘something’ be done about it.
Since begging OPEC, killing pipelines and blocking new leases on federal land don’t seem to work, what can we possibly do? There’s a reason oil companies have slashed their exploration budgets - the world treats them like tobacco companies, with bullshit, feel good ESG mandates and demands of widespread divestitures. They finally said fuck it, we’ll just focus on sure things. We don’t need that bullshit any more.
$100 is just a start. Climate morons will soon get their wish, and when it happens, you can be guaranteed they’ll blame greedy oil companies and fossil fuel subsidies.
Self awareness is not a strong suit of climate idiots.

Nigel, here are some points to ponder wrt Climate Change...
>Before the Industrial Age our atmosphere had roughly 1,900 Gigatons of CO2
>Since the IA started, mankind has added ~1,300 Gtns (we now have ~ 3,200 Gtns total)
>Currently, humans are adding ~40 Gtns/yr
>It takes between 20-200 years to scrub most of the added CO2 out of the atmosphere...thousands of years for the rest.
>...No one disputes that CO2 is a greenhouse gasSooner or later, we're going to have a really bad problem...when would you like to start doing something about it?...especially considering that we now have alternative sources of energy for most of the Fossil Fuel uses. The longer we wait, the harder the change will be.
Things do change...wishing they wouldn't isn't an effective strategy.

#1) Do you agree that we are increasing the CO2 content in our atmosphere at a rate that will see
the concentration of a greenhouse gas double the pre-industrial age level in less than 20 years at current rates of FF consumption?...and w/o any change in usage, that concentration would be tripled in less than 50 years....(see the comments in my previous post)
#2) Do you agree that global oil reserves (see BP link) have not shown a significant increase in the last few decades...other than 'fracking'...a technology that doesn't imply un-ending "abundance'?
In the opinion of leaders for developed countries around the world, who have the very best information available to them...we need to take action...not some day in the future...but now.
Fossil fuels have unique uses for which there are no reasonable alternatives...burning them up in an instant to be lost forever, when we have alternatives (Nuclear and Renewables)...IMO is the height of foolishness...time for change.

C'mon, Nigel...nations are making changes already...ramping up Renewables projects with major
investments...unfortunately, not enough nuclear right now, but somewhat understandable...China is building scores of new nukes...even Russia has is pursuing large Fast Breeder Reactors.
This transition is going to take time, but a lot of countries are taking ACTION...moreover, our own auto industry is making huge investments in EVs...they are NOT keeping their eggs in the FF basket, if you will.
Changes are happening all around...FOR A REASON...I'd advise taking notice.

on supply. And yes, his decision to scrap two pipelines added to this nervousness. His kneeling to the climate crowd has caused 90% of the problem. He couldn't manage an ice cream stand

Petroleum...it has lots of relevant and interesting information...btw, BP estimates that there are 47 years left of oil reserves at current consumption rates...oh, and it takes anywhere from 60-250 million years to replenish them...just saying...

Let me ask a simple question. Assume you are correct and we only have 20 years left. What will be
the price of crude in the next 5-15 years. How about $200 per barrel? What will that do to global energy prices and manufacturing. Your promised land may be here one day. You and I won’t live to see it. But our children and grandchildren will suffer enormously.

Let's hope that the "powers that be" don't wait to take action until the BP estimate is at 20 years.
the situation is becoming quite clear...there's only one way this 'Status Quo' is leading us..and that's to energy shortages, if we stay on fossil fuels only...don't get me wrong, we'll always need them, but for other uses beside heating and transportation (e.g. plastics and clothing, to name a couple)...we need to shift as quickly as is humanly possible (Politics, Economic Changes...you name it...) onto Nuclear and Renewable energy sources for heating, lighting, transportation....
That's pro-active protection for our progeny...to do nothing, other than the status quo is, for want of a better term..."Negligent".

I support renewables, solar, wind and nuclear but I’m a realistic. We can’t make EV’s now. So the
transition will be painful because you can’t find capital to invest in fossil fuel production which we will need for the next 20 years through the transition. We will see $200 per barrel oil.
