Here's a simplified version of whats going down using an analogy:
So the neighborhood dirtbag just went to my little retarded georgian friend and stole my bike that i left over there. but since i am currently busy with other problems, i won't talk trash to him. instead, i guess i will pretend that it's not a big deal and let it slide. oh, and even though me and my british friend want to kick our russian friend out of our treehouse club, the damn french and german kids want him to stay.

...in the world of disaster capitalism we live in.
AM General (the maker of the Hummer) has a joint venture with GM (who sells them) ,which has plans for a 1 billion dollar joint venture with Gaz, the Russian automotive group.
The more that gets destroyed, the more profits for the Russian oligarch's and US multinationals, who's profits and interests are interelated.

Let's give the government more regulatory power. I'm sure you're a scooter kind of gal, but have you ever driven a Yugo? Russia's cars suck. What's the problem with GM giving them quality for a change? Don't get your panties in a wad, douche bag.

Let's not pretend that the Russians are the only bad guys in the Caucasus. The ethnic hatred there makes Iraq look like Norway.
I am amazed that people seem to think that what happens in South Ossetia matters at all to the United States.
...that what happens in the Sudedtenland
matters at all to the United States.
Ummm.

Unless you think that Putin is about to go on a rampage in Europe - and that he can only be stopped in South Ossetia - then you shouldn't make stupid analogies.
And you have to be a complete moron to believe that.
stupid analogies? i simply stated that only bc we are tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan would another country steal our military equipment without fear of retribution.

you don't feel left out.
in regards to your analogy, i dont think the russians will do what nazi germany did. but i do think that russia has gotten more bold in recent years. they just don't care any more who they piss off.
It appears that the Russians have encouraged the separatists from instigating armed confrontations with the Georgians. The Georgians aren't perfect, and frankly I don't see why they want South Ossettia so badly. But in that part of the world you can't just let any ethnic group create a breakaway state. The Russians sure didnt let Chechnya separate from Russia. Over the past couple years, Putin has managed to give himself more power in that government and he is seeking to make Russia a frightening country once again. I wouldn't advocate going to war over Georgia, but it kind of sucks to watch a democratically elected government get pushed around like this.
