He has ordered massive closures across the state

Of course the article does not cover that. DeSantis simply refuses to give a Shelter in Place order.

rapidly. The video that was shared was before they released the info about the size of groups. These people were flat out stupid for coming down here and thinking it was safe. DeSantis has done a decent job of staying on top of this but common sense has to take over sooner or later.

You think it was common sense to allow spring break on those beaches? Please.

These spring break idiots were coming one way or another. Disney was open at this same time and finally closed around the same time he closed the beaches. It easy to sit and say what should have been done. Look at NY, that whole state needs to locked down due to the number of cases. That's not happening. Yesterday in Orlando, 44 flights arrived from the area. They were interviewing people about the 14 day quarantine and most had no clue what they were talking about. But yeah, I guess DeSantis is to blame.

No it wasn’t if the hotels, beaches and Disney had been closed. DiSantis is an ignorant Moran.

How crowded everything still is and how many out of state license plates are here. But yeah, the Spring Breakers would have stayed away.

Have you ever been to NYC, Philly? Of course things are crowded. That’s why you put in restrictions.

Holy crap! lockdown/stay at home is NOT intended to & CAN'T stop spread. Its intended to slow spread

rate by making the spread last longer, but also making its intensity weaker, so called "flatten the curve", i.e. lower the height of spread curve vertically but extend the curve horizontally. It's a trade-off strategy for the purpose not to overwhelm our medical system and not to run out of our hospital beds in a very short time. But this strategy never is intended to stop spread and it can't stop the spread. Actually it makes the spread last longer with weaker intensity. It's just basic 101 knowledge. It has been 2 months since coronavirus outbreak. It's amazing you and your fellows on this thread don't even know this basic knowledge but call others who understand lockdown strategy but disagree with it moron. You should feel ashamed.

The only way to stop the spread without vaccine is you go out and become immune to the virus. Actually most people are immune to this virus as Diamond Princess has shown, 80% people are immune to the virus, 20% are infected. But among this 20% infected, 80% of them are mild and recovered well.

Put aside the typical Mississippi stupidity for a moment (they are “not China”). It will be interesting to see how this goes. Granted, they are more rural than most states and much less dense, but still.

It’s another sign of how sick our society has become; our response is driven by partisanship

It has become an article of faith on the right that this epidemic has been fueled by the media in order to hurt the president. So downplaying it is an act of partisan loyalty.

It has become an article of faith on the left that the suffering in the country is essentially Trump’s fault. They do not trust anything that emanates from the White House.

This is going to make recovery really difficult.

The 24 hour news channels with their biases along with social media deliver misinformation and disinformation which is a major source of the partisan divide in this country.

I do agree with your original assessment.
