Should those who express opinions that "offend" others be denied employment? Especially on campus?

I feel it's mob mentality, and even mob rule. That's it.

It seems we are like a boater caught in a low head dam, being spun around and around.

First the hard left takes virulent offense at opinions contrary to its world view (in the name of tolerance of course) while the hard right then takes virulent offense (also in the name of tolerance) at the hard left having taken virulent offense to opinions contrary to its worldview. And so it goes in the continuing cycle with the poor boater not being able to get out of the whirlpool. The majority of normal people (the boater) not giving a rats ass about microagressions, wokeness, or the free speech rights of Laura Ingraham at Berkley just shake their heads and try to navigate the treacherous currents.

Thread Level: 3

You had me with you, until you said you don't give a rat's ass about free speech rights at Berkeley.

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.

Yeah, the majority of people are probably pissed about it.

The shit going on at the NYT, Philly Inquirer, etc should piss everyone off. But Conor tells us that the NYT is just a business, and the Stulzbergers, or whatever their name is, have the right to fire whomever they want (as long as said person isn’t transgender I guess, lol).

And then he gets pissed when Trump calls a spade a spade.

I'm sure he will post next, "I'm not surprised that Ned used the word 'spade.'"

That’s fair cause actually in the abstract I support the right. In the scheme of things though,

I just don’t care that much.

Thread Level: 5

The only thing keeping me sane is that I've stopped caring as much.

That, and tonight, this...an Italian Chardonnay, of all things. Who'd a thought? (This post doesn't pass Lehigh's "Three Bottle Recommendation" test. But, so far, so good. It's not inexpensive [in the high 30's], but I may have to get another bottle anyway. We'll see how the bottle finishes.)

ANTINORI CERVARO DELLA SALA, 2016

James Suckling-Umbria, Italy - "This is the Batard Montrachet of Italy with such and amazing depth and compression of beautiful fruit and chalk. Dried mango and dried green papaya. Full body, yet tight and focused. Energized acidity. Vibrance."
