MLB will be living a lie until it fully accepts the Automatic Ball-Strike (ABS) technology.
The ongoing playoffs make this so clear, once again.
During the past MLB season 54% of the challenges over-ruled the initial call by the ump.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred says that even the umps prefer an entire ABS system because the present system makes them look bad. Also, it unnecessarily slows down the game.
Defenders of the old system always say that it would take the human element out of the game. Please, do so! Technology gets it right; the umps don't.
It's inevitable: the ABS system will eventually be employed. And everybody will say the obvious: Why did we wait so long to do this?
