The inner workings of the human mental/emotional processing system are infinitely more complex and
mysterious... and terrifying!
AI is mere ideational... and cannot experience any emotion... like caring for others or joy... among many many other feelings.
But... we understand far more about AI than about ourselves.
Pity.
It's a defense.

My OP had to do with the Physical...not Metaphysical...aspects of AI. As an engineer, who once
discussed heat transfer issues limiting microprocessors with a fellow HP system designer from R&D, I found the video fascinating. Did you watch it?...if so, any thoughts/reactions to the physical technology?
Wrt, the Metaphysical dimension, I'm approaching it by endeavoring to understand how the 'machines' function and how the "Guardrails" being discussed can be implemented from a 'Systems Design' POV. I'm also finding Cheeks' post regarding the book "Reboot" helpful as well. The author has a great deal of AI experience along with a strong commitment to Human Control of the technology.

Emotion was (naturally) selected for in humans.
It is not that AI is inherently incapable of emotion. It is just that it is not being selected for emotion.
Just like we have developed artificial intelligence, we have developed artificial selection. We should be careful what we select for. We won't, though. Why?...
By "we" I mean 100% of us. When was the last time 100% of humanity agreed on anything? Never. Indeed, 100% agreement would, in natural circumstances, make it less likely that a sub-population would survive a catastrophic event, since it 100% agreement puts all our eggs in one basket. So, disagreement among our species is essentially a trait of our species.
Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.
