Piggybacking off Phuckin Qwesty's post, what is democratic socialism and should we be concerned?

I've just learned that "socialism" is triggering, "democratic socialism" however is a completely different thing. Explain the difference to me.

And then, after sorting out the semantics confusion, what do you think of the DSA platform as posted on their website? Do you support it?

Partial Summary:

• Constitutional Overhaul: Draft a new U.S. constitution that abolishes the U.S. Senate and the Electoral College, while expanding the House of Representatives.
• Democratic System: Replace the two-party system with a multi-party democracy and replace the presidency and Supreme Court with leadership chosen directly by Congress.
• Voting Rights: Extend full voting rights to permanent noncitizens and individuals with criminal convictions.
• Justice & Immigration: Abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), dismantle current policing and prison systems, and pursue open borders over the long term.

Okay so I like the abolishment of the two party system, I'll give them that.

I would propose a litmus test for the Boroughs (AKA NYC) and create The District of NY.

We the people, who live in NY State would elect separate leaders from the lot(s).

Two concurrent bills — Assembly Bill 2025‑A3778 and Senate Bill 2025‑S3484 — propose amending the New York State Constitution to divide the state into three autonomous regions rather than creating entirely new states
    .
    The proposed regions are:

New Amsterdam Region – all upstate counties north of Westchester

New York Region – NYC and surrounding downstate counties (Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, Richmond)

Montauk Region – Long Island (Nassau, Suffolk) plus Rockland and Westchester

Each region would have its own governor, legislature, and judicial system, with only a token state government to meet U.S. constitutional requirements.

Creating a new state would require:

A constitutional amendment in New York State.

Approval by a statewide vote in New York.

Congressional approval under the U.S. Constitution (Article IV, Section 3)

The tax structure would change. For the better? I doubt it, but we may enable an alternative for Alberta, CA to ponder.

Keep on rockin' in the free world

Is there some way we can call Bill Maher a "dumb phuck to his face"?

This MAGAMoron thinks "socialism" is a problem. It's "democratic socialism", you dumb phuck!

Per quest: he doesn't deserve any of the limited brain cells he was luckily provided. MAGA has rotted his brain and he can't think for himself.

We don't use the s word without the d word. Repeat, like you're praying the rosary.
