Fewer than one-third of Catholic voters in the United States have a favorable opinion of President Donald Trump, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.
Released less than a month before the Nov. 3 midterm elections, the survey indicates that Trump's approval rating among all Catholics has dropped from 47% at the beginning of his second term to 30% in October 2026.
Among Hispanic Catholics, Trump's approval rating dropped from 31% to 18%, and among white Catholics from 59% to 39% over the same period.
In the 2024 presidential election, Trump won a majority of Catholic voters, taking 55% of the Catholic vote to Vice President Kamala Harris' 43%, according to a previous Pew survey. Four years earlier, Catholics split almost evenly: 50% voted for Joe Biden and 49% for Trump in the 2020 election.
Since the beginning of his second term, Trump's approval rating has dropped significantly among all U.S. adults. That downward trend is evident in every religious group, according to Pew.
