They have both been major US regional allies for decades We have a large base in Bahrain.

It's good. Its not a "peace deal" - there was no war - but it is a good thing.
It is a normalization of relations, not a peace deal. Bahrain is tiny - a half-million people, I think. But it is a positive step for the region, driven by mutual hatred of Iran.
