Corn! We ate a few ears Sunday evening. Just too sweet. I don’t ever remember corn so sweet.
Just couldn’t eat it. Really kinda disappointing and in the end a big Blah.
Why do Americans need to make everything extra sweet?

The ears that are primarily yellow with some white kernals are called colloquially "candy corn" though I think that is a specific hybrid. When sweet corn is picked at peak ripeness, typically in July here, the sugars immediately start converting to starch. The fresher it is, the sweeter it is. The way to cook it is to place the ears in a pot of cold water with a splash of lemon juice, heat to boil for one minute, cover and remove from heat. Serbe with butter, salt and pepper.

I like sweet corn, but when it's sweet because they boiled it in sugar, I'm less of a fan.
The humor when I was young my father would ask the kids, us, what’s a buccaneer? The answer is - expensive corn. Now it’s a reality.
But yes, the corn available in the city here is very sweet.
What’s your take on corn these days?
Generally, if it's fresh in the fall, I might grab some on a day I'm grilling and put it in the grill while in the husk. But that's maybe once a year. If I have side options eating out, I usually pick something else - potato, vegetable, etc.
