You don't think the private sector would step in if federal funds were cut for the Kennedy Center? I think the private sector would step up. If it won't, then maybe it isn't worth the money.
We are spending $1.8 trillion that we don't have, every year. Maybe "the arts" is a luxury we can't currently afford. Let's balance the budget, then we can talk about supporting the arts with tax dollars.

Neither party supports a balanced budget. Please don't pretend that Democrats are more fiscally responsible than the GOP, because we all know that is total bullshit.
Halting spending for luxury items (like the arts) is the easiest cut to make.
If we can't agree on cutting our luxury spending, then there will never be a balanced budget, ever.

Personally, I think the arts are entirely discretionary, whereas the safety of POTUS is not.

Actually, taxpayers fund less than 20% of the Kennedy Center…the rest is from fund raising…
and Trump’s name on it isn’t the ‘Draw’ he thinks it is ;-)…that’s likely the real reason it’s being shuttered.
Meanwhile…guests and the press need to sign a waiver when flying on the Qatari AF-1…acknowledging they accept the risk…;-)

The 20% of funding should be withdrawn. No reason to support it with tax dollars when Americans will voluntarily step up and pay for it. Or, do you think we need to force Americans to do that???

A little background on the Kennedy Center for you..."Ike" is the one who came up with the idea of a
National Cultural Center that would be partially funded by taxpayers...even those who are self-centered Libertarians ;-).
Note that DJT wanted to keep it that way...so long as the Malignant Narcissist's name was on it.
