the 1st Amendment right of a Free Press, you have to know that a considerable number of swing voters are going to take notice and question those candidates who would support Trump this November...especially since he's come right out and said the MidTerms are 'All About Him'.
Like this time, the media networks banned together. This was predictable. I have to assume the Trump knew it would happen. Will be interesting to watch it play out.

did attempt to because they had promised to play nice in an interview a week prior then didn’t. By playing nice they mean FOX TV journalists were in attack mode and posed false facts questions to alter the narrative of the interview. Obama admin. claimed FOX TV wasn’t a news organization therefore they didn’t deserve the same privileges as real news organizations. However the Obama administration relented and FOX TV was allowed into the interview.
