Nation to nation war. On the way to be nuked. That's Russia doctrine - reserve right to use nuclear if Russia's territory is attacked.

I think Zelensky is losing control of Ukraine military to those ultranationalist generals. Or maybe it's a retaliation to Russia' missile attack to Ukraine command center that is said it killed 50 high ranking military officers. By any means it's embarrassing to U.S. whose military aids was claimed to not allow to attack Russia territory.

A) It wasn't an American drone. B) Fuck Russia

Do you believe it is morally defensible for Palsy Putin to nuke Kiev because of this drone attack?

I said "on the way to be nuked", i.e. escalating in that direction, yes, Russia will nuke

It doesn't matter you like or not based on your morality. It's Russia doctrine on the wall. Russia made it known to the world long long time ago.

Thread Level: 7

I asked for your opinion on the moral question.

It depends on proportionality principle that the harms of nuking proportional to the gains

Please give one example of how nuking a city might be morally acceptable

When the “gains” of burning hundreds of thousands of innocent people to death might make it worthwhile.

Go ahead.

Go ahead what? We haven't had nuclear war yet. Ask me later when it happens and we are still alive

You said “it depends.”

ON WHAT?

Not a hard question. Even relatively stupid foreigners ought to be able to answer it.

Thread Level: 12

Nuking Kiev has NOT happened yet. Of course it depends what's going to happen. Are you saying

No matter what using nuke is wrong? If so, WTF you develop and possess so many nuclear weapons in first place? They are just toys to you if you are not ready to use them, right? What a dumb.

So... Harari makes the argument that nuclear proliferation created lasting peace.

Not sure if you're interested in the actual debate about that so just a lazy summary.

Lots of people make that case

But I don’t know anyone who would argue that it would ever be morally acceptable to nuke a city, as if somehow the “gains” would make it OK.

I think it depends on how willing you are to zoom out.

And ideally, humans in the future would be able to zoom out and see that we recognized where we went wrong and corrected course.

But looking back in anger will serve no one, much less humanity as a whole. Things happened and humans did them. Learn from the history and such.

Sidenote: I can provide the Harari quotes if interested.

I think if there was a gambling component to this, you'd get some American to care.
