new strain of COVID. - He was in the building's elevator one afternoon in early May when an out of breath upstairs neighbor catches the closing doors and hops in.
The doors close and immediately the fellow who lives upstairs sneezes the big sneeze - as described to me - Mt. St. Helens sneeze - . the
guy immediately says to my neighbor, not "to worry, I had got COVID 5 days ago and now I'm negative, I have all the antibodies now plus
I have all my vaccines. You're safe!"

My neighbor who was wearing a mask said a few things to this guy (like why aren't you wearing mask?) and gets out on his floor.
Of course my neighbor comes down with COVID
several days later as does his wife. They miss their vacation they had paid for, she ended up in ER. They have been suffering with this for what he
says is 7 weeks and counting. It's been a nightmare for the two of them. As he's telling me his tale, that upstairs neighbor walks in the front door
and says hello to the two of us as if he doesn't remember his sneeze.

Well, my neighbor stops him and asks him to recall the elevator sneeze. He says, "oh yeah, but it was okay because I wasn't sick anymore". to then
my neighbor goes ballistic. He in an undertone tells him his nightmare story of what happened because of the sneeze and not wearing a mask in a
small common space. (all the time he's relaying his experience, the upstairs guy keeps interrupting him with, couldn't have been me, you're wrong
you got it somewhere else and on and on. My neighbor, he doesn't miss a detail of his experience with COVID.

The upstairs guy says,"naw it wasn't me; I have my vaccines, you didn't get it from me. I had COVID in May, it's July." He continues, " and It's inappropriate
for you to blame me because you got sick." They argued loudly for a while to no avail. My neighbor told him not to take the elevator without wearing a mask.
The upstairs guy thought about it, looked at the elevator then wisely chose the stairs.

Was my neighbor right in recounting the elevator sneeze to this guy?

Per CDC guidance, I can go out in public today with a mask.

I will made a quick trip to the local butcher because they are closed Sunday/Monday, wore my mask.

Still feel it is too soon.

if I knew I'd tested positive for COVID and had symptoms like that upstairs neighbor certainly did, I'd make sure I knew what the CDC guidelines were and I'd follow them closely...for OTHER's safety...I'm already recovering...my responsibility now is to make sure no one else get's sick.

Those guidelines (attached) include this recommendation...
----------------------
For people who test positive, are asymptomatic (never develop symptoms) and not moderately or severely immunocompromised:

Isolation can be discontinued at least 5 days after the first positive viral test (day 0 through day 5, with day 0 being the date their specimen was collected for the positive test).
These people should continue to properly wear a well-fitted MASK around others at home and in public for 5 ADDITIONAL DAYS (day 6 through day 10) after the 5-day isolation period. Day 0 is the date their specimen was collected for the positive test and day 1 is the first full day after the specimen was collected for the positive test. (emphasis mine)
-----------------------
Mr. 'Upstairs' was only 5 days out from his positive test...frankly, in this highly contagious BA4 and BA5 environment he should always wear a KN95/N95 mask in his apartment elevator.

Always the "Me...Me...Me..."...too many never grow up.

Says he got sick after visiting the office...to hear him tell it, very sick. I believe him.

Keeps bitching about how often we sanitize the office, asking about our procedures and such.

Sucks when people bitch and moan about things like that. You have my sympathies.

Every time he does this, I just keep congratulating him on the negative test. I mean, WTF?

The pandemic is over. This now an endemic...just another flu. Hard to believe people are still bitching and moaning about catching a disease when they themselves choose to go to public places.

don't know the reason why the mask wearing is so very important in stopping the virus from traveling.

My neighbor most certainly has his shots as does his wife - And as they noted in ER, that's what saved her
from having to fight it off in ICU.

So was, he wrong or right in confronting this guy?

He was 5 days into his COVID illness where he didn’t feel any symptoms therefore in his mind it was okay to jump back into the population. And without taking even the simplest precaution of wearing a mask. A responsible person would have worn a mask.

I mean, c’mon, we’re almost 3 years into this so we should all know the simple things.

then witness the confrontation.

I think he was spot on. In fact I said to my neighbor since he knows where he contracted the virus he should write it all out documenting how he knows where he got it, why he knows, the financial cost, the health cost, the time it took out of his life, the issues caused in the long term and the damage it did to his family. Then paste a copy of this on his apartment door.

I say this because this young man did not want to take ownership of his deed and stupidity.
