Recently had a long drive, wherein in listened to some of my favorites. Went deep into my Lenny Kravitz collection. Man, he is simply awesome. Is there anyone cooler than Lenny?
Not hip to current culture. Maybe someone has supplanted Lenny.
Educate me.
Back in the day, I was a big U2 and REM guy...had all their albums from their first ones on. But Bono and Stipe? Meh. The more popular they got, the less I liked their music. Guess I don't go for superstars.
I like music. I like a wide variety of music. But the artists themselves?...They come and they go. I don't get attached anymore.
Seems like the upcoming generation (late teens, and twenties) are even more like "what have you done for me lately." They don't go and buy every album of a band and listen to them over and over agian. They have song lists which likely have a few songs each from many artists, and I don't think they have any hardcore allegiances to any particular "mofo."

If I had to pick a genre I dislike most, I suppose I would say that I'm not a huge fan of modern jazz. How about that to narrow things down?
Then again, perhaps I haven't given modern jazz a fair shake. (Some of the classical jazz is cool.)

There are no real cool rockers out there that haven't been out there for decades. That's why the Stones are still
a choice (God help us).
The cool dudes and dudettes arrived int he 50's 60's and 70's. After than it's been a thinning out of talent.
As for Kravitz. I saw him in the early 80's trying to break into the Rock scene and he was unimpressive then. He dressed like
he was Jim Morrison, hammered his guitar like Randy Bachman and sang like he couldn't carry a tune. He was about as
original as a hangover. So, I never saw him as cool. He's gleaned a lot of respect over the years though I'm not sure why.
Most of the stuff today is auto tuned schlock, derivative and not very original but there are a few bands out there that deserve
consideration.
You may have posted to be rhetorical but maybe not. Your tastes will not align with mine but maybe you'll hear something that
stretches you tastes.
There's a reason why Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Stones, Doors, Zeppelin, Hendrix, N. Young, Cash and more are still on most
radio play lists - Outside of what is crap hip-hop/rap - there's not too much that's exciting - or cool.
My most favorite artist in the music world is Dimash from Kazakhstan (maybe the greatest male vocalist ever on this earth)
If you liked Nirvana - the continuation of that band is The Foo Fighters. Not bad at all.
I've been listening to tons of Ethiopian jazz. Some good stuff there.
I like this band/woman; Soap Kills:

Think Lenny is THE MAN!
But what the hell do I know? I do appreciate your thoughts.
In my world, Zeppelin reigns supreme.
I listen to just about everything - save most hip-hop.
But I get it. Kravitz has a huge fan base. I might like him a little more if I had not seen him early on.

I can’t even imagine listening to two of his songs in a row. How did you avoid driving into a bridge abutment to stop the pain?
And basically any contemporary "rock" played on FM radio,
Bands that are reviled by many that I can still mostly enjoy: The Eagles, Nirvana, Chicago (nothing after about 1975).
Can't imagine anyone not appreciating Lenny's work.
You be you, I'll be me.
While I don't like Lenny, I was exaggerating a bit for (self-perceived) comedic effect.
and way more mellow...
