After Swing Out Sister, what are the greatest English bands of the 80s?

C'mon, admit it. Breakout was a good tune - it was all the rage on VH1 - and you kinda had a thing for the chick singer.

Clearly, nobody in their right mind would suggest Swing Out Sister is the greatest English band of the 80s.

I was looking for the REAL answer....the only legitimate response to my question.

Dexys Midnight Runners. Had a high school summer fling with a girl from another school, which was always a huge bragging right. She was smokin'.....WAY outside of my league. And she just loved 'Come On Eileen'.

No, her name wasn't Eileen.

These guys weren't a big name, but I listened to them a lot. Good country driving music.

They are actually incredible musicians - A few mainstream hits but definitely PA music for the LGBTQ club scene.
They did "West End Girls" too a big mainstream hit along with "Being Boring".

You want to expand your mind? Try The Residents. You won't hear your local morning DJ and the traffic gal blabbering over their music.

Commercial radio is terrible. It has been for a while. Take any morning zoo program, from NY to San Diego and you will see the same formula. Talking over each other. Bad jokes, Prank phone calls. Playing the same 30 songs corporate picked out. Rush wrote a song about this very thing. I don't assume anything about you because I never heard of you and more important, never have read any of your comments to the best of my recollection. Your resume isn't important to me or this discussion. You love hearing "Jack and Diane" everyday for all eternity. I don't.

This is more like it! Young tough who actually listens to FM zoo (or you wouldn't know the details).

Btw, Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, Clapton are more my style.

I am one of the original posters when Kyle went online, about 20 years ago. We can still be friends, so don't take this the wrong way.
