He hasn’t had that power - which is not absolute - since 1/20/21
It is not clear that the President can unilaterally declassify everything, especially nuclear weapons materials. Not sure how it would stand up in court, but there is a law saying he would need the OK from DOE.
But either way, if he had TS stuff in his possession after 1/20/21, then he was in violation.
It is a mystery about why he would, or what stuff he took. Obviously.
It will all be revealed in due time.

As POTUS, he couldn’t just deem something declassified. Congress and other
Government entities would need to be involved in order to do so. You have a kindergarten view of a President and classified material.
Most agencies inside the government who deal in high level information held back on giving sensitive information to trump because they viewed him as a high security risk.

Yes and No
The Prez can declassify almost anything, and Congress has no say in the matter.
There are certain subjects, like nuclear weapons, that are in a different category. “Restricted Data” cannot be declassified, by statute.

This is all so clearly planned and targeted. You like it because it ties Trump into court and takes attention from Biden’s & Dem failures. But it is once again, the big lie. DOJ is taking an unprecedented action.
DOJ is doing it at a critical political moment.
DOJ has history of falsifying data in attempt to get same target in past.
DOJ is claiming information is taken is classified, but by guy who decides whether it is classified.
If info is of high level risk category, then DOJ waited a year and a half to act and put country at risk.
DOJ also waited until it was just before an election where it’s party deeply behind in the polls.
I have lots of QUESTIONS Chris. But they are questions all pointing to the same logical answer.

Might not be as ominous as it sounds - here is language from the espionage act
Section 793 of the Espionage Act of 1917: "willfully retains the same and fails to deliver it on demand to the officer or employee of the United States"
Might just be handling of records, not what would popularly be thought of as espionage.
