“To come into queer spaces and actually believe that we live in a post-homophobic world is a kind of hostile occupation,” the researchers said.
“Hetrification weaponizes heteronormativity and breaks down queer spaces,” they added. “The incessant visitation of heteronormative misconduct slowly diminishes the integrity of the space … [leaving venues] at risk of being disabled as safe havens for the LGBTQ+ community.”

I'll actually defend the author and target audience on this one. They're right.
Clusters of partying straight women flowing through establishments that cater by design to a very different demographic is pretty selfish. The demographic in question doesn't have nearly as many places where they can go and feel welcome behaving however they want to behave in public. If they're suddenly being crowded out of those places by these women who are selfishly choosing that spot because they don't want to get hit on by straight guys, that isn't cool. I don't blame them for feeling annoyed.
A certain amount of blame goes to the Michigan AG for saying "Drag queens make everything better".
