Remember folks, climate change is our greatest threat (except when it's white supremacy).

I still don't understand the anti nuclear power element that seems to exist everywhere outside of France. But a part of it is the greenies concern about nuclear waste.

Nuclear Waste is an issue, but there is a solution, which many "Greenies" have come to appreciate

and accept...to the degree of becoming "Pro Nuke" (see link...in fact, bookmark it)...i.e. Fast Reactors and Recycling. In essence it reduces the radioactive toxicity to 'background' level in ~300 years...seems like a very long time, but the form and means of storage makes it exceptionally safe and reliable...also, the volume of high-level waste is dramatically reduced...way less than that of other toxic materials we produce regularly without much public outcry.

Fortunately, the Biden administration is fully supporting the Fast Reactor design and development...more work is needed on Recycling...there are technical issues to deal with, as well as political ones (i.e. Nuclear Weapons Proliferation).

FYI...for a video review of Nuclear, Fast Reactors and Waste...seek out the movie "Pandora's Promise"

all the new Nuclear Reactor designs and developments required, along with other countries around the world...as for Germany, IMO as data from new developments come in (circa 2030), and the realities of Wind/Solar grid variability...and the cost of storage...become more real, they'll again appreciate the value of Nuclear Power...just not today.

I hope you are right. But, your track record here is awful. Again, I hope you are right.

I have very little faith that the environmentalists will allow your party to do anything regarding nuclear...except maybe appoint a trans-dog juvenile-attracted activist to run the program.

them know you want them to speak out (and vote) in support as well?...every little bit helps...btw, there will always be those who oppose NP and for those who are honestly concerned, I understand...the onus is on those in leadership to acknowledge them and communicate clearly and effectively the answers to their questions/fears.

As far as the Dem Party is concerned, there is a clear majority in favor...and, NP is part of their Platform for the future...still waiting for the GOP to even put a Platform of specific priorities and details on the table...email those folks as well to start communicating with the American Public with clear objectives and details when it comes to our future energy policy...because...and I'm sure you'll agree with me...it's one of the most important issues EVERY AMERICAN is being confronted with.

btw, nice 'dig' at Sam Brinton...but ill advised...aside from his obvious knowledge and experience in the Nuclear Waste field (hired by the DOE in both the Trump and Biden admins), he's someone who has been granted a Top Secret Clearance (not sure DJT would qualify any longer ;-)), and that is corroboration that he has no criminal record, is mentally stable and of good character (all requirements of a TS Clearance...check it out for yourself)...how he gets sexually aroused may be different from you, but that's both of yours own business, and no one else's...unless you choose to make it public.

someone who has devoted his professional life to the study of anything related to the issue of Climate Change...just saying.

I'll also say that the leaders and leading scientists in over 190 countries disagree with him...make your own 'Informed' decision on the threat of CC.

Is it 'less than optimal' for Putin to have started a war with Ukraine that upsets the flow of FFs this winter?...Of course...but how does that obviate the need to continue dealing with CC?

nothing is being done to make up the difference...(see link)...but this crisis has much more to do with Putin and future geopolitics than Climate Change...so, if the Europeans are willing to put on an extra sweater, then why can't you join them in opposing Putin...because that's the choice that needs to be made...give into his extortion, or fight him...where do you stand?

"The tug of war between Europe and the biggest buyers in North Asia caused the price of LNG to soar, and contributed to a quadrupling of European benchmark gas prices between the start of 2022 and late August. Thailand paid twice as much for LNG supplies in June as it had a year before. For some buyers, prices were out of reach. Emerging economies in South Asia such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were having to turn more to fuel oil, which is more carbon-intensive, to produce electricity, intensifying pollution and compromising efforts to contain global warming. Pakistan’s government triggered rolling blackouts and boosted power bills, while shops in Bangladesh were closing earlier as part of energy austerity measures."

Yes, Peterson is a clinical psychologist and he has asked a question that you dodged with the joker in the CC deck, i.e., how do you propose to beat Putin while he holds more nukes than the west by a long shot and does not restrict his thinking with any semblance of western ideological restraint. Before he invaded Ukraine, probably in January - you can search, I posted my opinion that in general we in the west have no concept of the pain that the Russian people will withstand if they for two seconds think that mother Russia is in peril.

You might want to read a bit about what Germany faced on its eastern front during WWII and what the Soviets did with their own armed forces. I see that some of those same tactics have been used in Ukraine. BTW, the government has the guns, not so much the populace, so it is highly unlikely that you will see an upheaval of rioting over conscription call-ups that could topple Putin.

Here is a link that you might try to weave into the fabric of your sweaters for CC analysis.

btw, the publication is also considered "Far Right" and "Libertarian"...

while there is good reason to be concerned about Germany's, and the rest of the EU's economy, your reference source may have "Jumped the Shark" a bit here...we'll have to wait and see...parenthetically, BASF has already inked a deal with Porsche for a new, very large, EV Battery manufacturing plant...just to give you an idea of how they are looking at the future.

As for Putin and the Russians...anytime a nuclear armed country's leader gets 'animated' and threatens to use those weapons, it sends a chill throughout the world...but for Putin, he's made a habit of rattling that saber, and I've heard one of our retired generals state that in his meetings with Russian counterparts and our own intelligence assessments, he believes that when it comes to "First Strike" Nukes, the people who would have to carry out such and order have to go through a strong series of checks...plus they are loath to do so if no nuclear weapons have been sent their way.

You talk about the Russian people 'Girding their loins' in this conflict...well, with thousands of vehicles trying to get OUT of Russian, as we speak, from virtually every exit point (including airports), ...plus there are riots in scores of Russian cities AGAINST the war, so the 'word is out'...DON'T JOIN this war...while not everyone in Russia is with Ukraine, they know that they are NOT the aggressor here.

Back to heating and powering the EU...steps are being taken to fill the oil/gas gap, notably with new LNG supplies by mid-winter...hopefully, they will be sufficient, but so far, the leadership is resolute in weathering Putin's 'attack' on them...thinking longer term, enough new facilities for LNG should be in place by the end of 2023 to never need Russian gas, so the threat now turns the other way...do the intelligent 'mucky mucks' in Russia decide that Vlad has to go NOW before he sets them up for real pain in the not too distant future...we'll have to wait and see.
