Missed our first nine shots. This is all on Brey. His recruits, his team, and he has no answers.

What are the one or two things he can learn from McGraw?

Why is it, do you reckon, that none of the fabulous women's basketball coaches ever get hired to coach the men? Is it, as subwaytom would argue, the internalized misogyny of college administrators, or is it that there is no comparison between coaching women's basketball and men's basketball?

"Recruiting and coaching."

I see you're quite knowledgable.

McGraw has to recruit against a handful of other top programs because with any women's sport, there is a small percentage of athletic, skilled female athletes, and those few are spread between a few programs. Brey has tom compete with innumerable programs and the whole recruiting scene for the men's game is 200 times more intense. I have my criticisms of Brey's recruiting, but comparisons to the women's game are ludicrous.

You provide no specifics about "coaching."

Do you think McGraw would do a better job with the men's team than Brey? I'm asking you to answer this as you really think, not posturing because it appears "enlightened" to spout out ridiculous statements about the women's game being better than the men's game.

Why do you think these great women's coaches never get hired to coach the men?

I believe you have misunderstood me . I never said the women’s program was better than the men’s, but Muffet’s record speaks for itself. She has had a better run in her program. As far as coaching goes, too many time I have seen Brey’s team blow the final shot in a close game. Brey is adequate, but in my opinion, that is about it.

At this point, Coach Fran moving from Iowa to ND would be unlikely in my opinion. That's, at best, a lateral move. Tim Miles has said before his dream job is ND, but he may get fired at Nebraska. After those guys, you're on to up-and-comers or lesser-known coaches or retreads.

You are exactly right as we have tried to explain about recruiting so many times. They don't have

one and dones in the womens' game and they are competing against maybe 5 programs.

The one that really got me one time was that someone said they think our women's team could take the men's team straight up. What a joke! They use men in practice to make them better and tougher players but none of those men would make our mens' team.

As far as coaching, Brey is an excellent game coach and has beaten way more talented teams many times. McGraw has to only face one team more talented some years, that being Connecticut and one year Baylor.

I do not think you give Muffet enough credit. To maintain her continued level of success is due to her hard work, and not just to a lack of competition.. As for Brey, there is always some excuse, facilities, academics, etc.etc.etc. I wish I was wrong, but Let me point out again, how many final fours and elite eight’s have we been too? And no, I do not think Brey is a very good in game coach. Our postseason record speakes for itself.

That is completely different than dealing with everything you have to contend with in the men's game.

Brey’s slovenly appearance indicates he thinks he has a free pass this year.

He dresses like a pure slob. His team is a reflection of his slovenly coaching style. He is currently half-assed.

Brilliant!

I take it you were against hiring Majerus twenty years ago for this same reason?

This board is mind-numbing, between the "Why can't Brey be more like McGraw" geniuses and tripe like this. Astounding.

It shows a lack of attention to detail in his life. Catastrophic in coaching. Leahy, Parseghian, Holtz, Saban were/are stickers for detail.

is problematic..WHY? THis team is godawful..Other than Mooney, Im not sure I'd be thinking of anyone else as starter next yr..

Does ND NOT aspire for basketball greatness? Yesterday during the game, the TV flashed the accomplishments of Jay Wright at Villanova, Mark Pew at Gonzaga, Tony Bennett at UVA,,All coaching AT SCHOOLS WITH STRONG ACADEMICS, their winning % were all in the .800s..Not sure if it encompassed their entire career, but very telling..

Does ND not want this..It just may be time for a search for a Wright, Bennet, Pew, at least a new face to rejuvenate the program..THis program seems stale..

I would think, with over 300 schools playing div 1 basketball, any competent AD worth his salt, could identify at least 10 coaches on the "up and coming" list, in the same manner that Villanova identified Jay Wright..THis isn't football wherE you have only 120 some teams playing, and guys like Saban, Meyer clearly were 1 and 2..
