The degree is worth more to elite recruits than the chance for a basketball career. It's also why they are more likely to stay 4 years.

want NBA money immediately, women, not as important to them since it is not great money.

Thread Level: 3

ND doesn't get those sorts of players.

The two highest-rated recruits since 'Phonz were Demetrius Jackson and Torin Francis and neither was even drafted.

Thread Level: 4

Chris Thomas was a McD AA and Indiana “Mr Basketball”.

Was not rated in the top 30 as a senior. Luke Zeller also made the McD's AA team and was not top 30.

Torin Francis was top 10 and Jackson was top 25/30.

You never specified top 30. Demetrius was drafted.

I stand corrected on Jackson.

The men's players understand the value of the degree and I think most of them understand that they will not be making millions playing basketball after they're done at ND.

coaching plays a huge role.

last year, muffet lost 80% of her starting lineup for one reason or another. instead of making excuses, she modified her strategy to fit the strengths of the remaining players - even teaching some of them totally new positions -, and won the nc. as far as i know, that's never happened in any sport at any level. 80% is beyond a significant number.

there's your answer: coaching.

That is the key difference.

Bullshit, talent at the same level is the main difference. The coaches know the strategies the

problem was this year every body shot poorly in just about every game. You can win with good coaching and smart players if up to three guys are off their games but not when all five are.

so basically, you're saying....

....if you take the nd players to rutgers, they would win the national championship.

now there's some bullshit for you.

value the degree. ND, UConn and maybe three other teams get the best recruits. Both coaches know what works the good thing about our women is is that there are only 4 other good teams, so the recruits go to the top 4 programs.

that there are only @40 top women hoops players in this entire country, that all 40 go to only the top 4 schools, and that coaching is not a factor. based on your logic, one would think that harvard, yale, princeton, wellsley, stanford, and wilson, etc., would field the top women's programs because of the superior educational opportunities.

hmmm.

Those teams are not the glamour right now in women's basketball. it is UConn, certainly no academic
